On august 25, 2007, a today ‘handicrafts exhibition & women
artisan show’ celebrations started here Hunza to provide an
opportunity to women of all ages and women artists from
all-over Hunza to express their joy, creativity,
entrepreneurship, and artwork as part of Golden Jubilee
celebrations of His Highness Prince Aga Khan, the 49th
hereditary Imam of Ismaili Muslim.
More than 60 stalls on handicrafts, garments, cosmetics, food,
health, education, were established where 13000 women from
all parts of Hunza including a small number from Nagar also
visited the programme. Lady member Northern areas
Legislative Council, GoP, Mrs. Shahida Shafi chaired the
opening ceremony, she was accompanied by a number of other
lady officers, leaders in the programme.
Chief Guest, visitors and artist women appreciated the
arrangements and celebration specific to women. Women
Activities Portfolio, Ismaili Council for Hunza had arranged
this programme, where women showed their commitment to work
for and respect pluralism, diversity, peace and harmony
among the regions and countries. AKRSP, AKESP, KADO, Ismaili
Tariqah &Religious Education Board for Hunza and several
other civil society organizations extended their assistance
and cooperation.
