A 260 member team completed on September 8, a
three days trekking on Silk Route from Gilgit to Hunza
started on September 6, 2007. It was aimed to provide an
opportunity to the youth to interact with diverse cultures,
geographies and to keep the young generation with their
history. This event was jointly organized by Ismaili Council
for Gilgit and Hunza as part of Golden Jubilee of His
Highness the Aga Khan.
August gatherings and warm welcome programmes
were organized in honor of the trekking team along the silk
route in each village. Men and women from the villages
showed very disciplined, organized and full of happiness and
joy showering with petals and offering flowerily garlands.
This event was ended in a large gathering
organized by Ismaili Council for Hunza here in Aliabad where
more than 5000 men and women, children and elders, notables
and community heads. Trekking remained very successful and
all the stakeholders appreciated the celebration of its
kind.
